Danish PM wants to Go to Greenland to Apologize to Experiment Children
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen wants to go to Greenland to apologize to the children of a 1951 experiment, according to KNR.
In 1951, 22 Greenlandic children were forcibly sent to Denmark as part of a project, the goal of which was for them to be raised as Danish, and then return to Greenland as role models. Only six of the 22 are alive today.
Last year, Frederiksen offered an official written apology on behalf of the Danish government in relation to a joint Danish-Greenlandic investigation report about the case. Now, there are strong indications that a verbal apology will be offered – on Greenlandic soil.
