Cyber Attack on the University of Reykjavík

The University of Reykjavík was a victim of a cyber attack last night. That is reported by RÚV, The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service.

The Greenlandic newspaper Sermitsiaq reports that the Russian hacker group Akira is believed to be behind the attack. The group has tried to encrypt or steal data from the university's IT systems via ransomware before demanding money to remove the encryptors.

HR at the university says the hacker group only obtained insignificant amounts of information about the student body.
