COVID-19 Variant First Detected in U.K. has been Found in Alaska

According to Alaskan health officials, more contagious strain of the coronavirus was detected for the first time in Alaska, ADN reports.

Two related cases have been detected and contained so far.

In December, an Anchorage resident became infected with a strain of the virus after the person was recently in a state where the virus variant had previously been detected, according to the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. A member of that person's household also proved to be infected.
