Chinese Company into Greenlandic Mining Project

Denmark warns against major Chinese investments in Greenland, yet the Chinese company Shenghe Resources will get access to the Kuannersuit mine (also known as ‘Kvanefjeld’) if the mining project gets the go-ahead it needs to start, according to KNR.

In 2016, Shenghe Resources acquired 12.5 percent of the shares of Greenland Minerals. Thus, the Chinese company gets access to what may become Greenland’s largest raw material project ever.

More than 90 percent of rare rock minerals are currently extracted in Cina. Participating in the Kuannersuit project will provide the Chinese with deep insights into raw materials in the Arctic.
