Celebrating 50 Years of Indigenous Diplomacy
In a new book, the Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC), the Saami Council and the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA) celebrate fifty years of Arctic Indigenous Peoples’ diplomacy and tell the political history of Arctic Indigenous Peoples, seen from their own perspectives in a new book.
The book contributes with insights to the achievements and influence of Arctic Indigenous Peoples.
Since the first Arctic Peoples’ Conference was held in 1973, Arctic Indigenous Peoples have been influenced Arctic governance, and continue to play a role on maintaining, safeguarding, and strengthening Arctic cooperation.
The book was launched August 9th, 2024, the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.
