Catfish Case in Greenland Leads to Change of Law
Following the so-called ‘Catfish Case’ in Greenland, a draft law has now been submitted for adoption at the parliamentary winter assembly of the Inatsisartut, according to Sermitsiaq.
The proposal involves clarification of regulations establishing the competence of the Audit Committee as well as its legal right to access to information and materials it may request and comes as a consequence of the Committee’s problems with gaining access to documents from the Premier, Naalakkersuisut, in relation to the so-called Castfish Case.
The Catfish Case was about how Naalakkersuisut, the Premier, Kim Kielsen took the decision to raise catfish quotas while he himself rented out his own boat to a fisherman participating in the catfish fisheries.
