Canadian Bank Nixes Oil and Gas Investments in the Arctic

Indigenous leaders are applauding TD Bank’s announcement that the financial institution will no longer finance oil and gas related activity in the Arctic, including in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), according to Eye on the Arctic.

TD made the Arctic announcement on Monday as part of its climate action plan.

TD is the third Canadian bank, after the Royal Bank of Canada and the Bank of Montreal, to announce that it will nix financing for Arctic oil and gas projects.
