Camp Century Remains Beneath the Greenland Ice

In 1967, the Americans abandoned Camp Century, currently located underneath the Greenland ice.

After worries that the base might resurface following ice melting and climate changes, a recent scientific study shows that that is not going to happen anytime soon, according to KNR.

The remains of the base will not emerge from melting ice, nor will melt water reach down to the remains, according to GEUS, the National Geological Survey for Denmark and Greenland.

Radar images show that the base is located 32 meters below the ice surface.
