Bombers With Scheduled Flight Over Barents Sea and Arctic Ocean
Two Tu-160 strategic missile-carrying bombers recently carried out a planned cruise over the Barents Sea and the Arctic Ocean.
In a press release, the Russian Ministry of Defense writes that the cruise took place over neutral waters and lasted approximately eight hours.
Su-35S aircraft of the Russian Air Force acted as fighter escort for the bombers.
"The flight was carried out in strict accordance with the international rules for the use of airspace," says the head of long-distance flights, Lieutenant General Sergei Kobylash, in the message.
Russia regularly conducts long-haul flights over the neutral waters of the Arctic, the North Atlantic, the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea, and the Pacific Ocean, he added.
