American Consulate in Nuuk to Have Staff of Seven

Last May, the USA opened up a consular office in Nuuk, Greenland. As of next year, the office is meant to have a staff of seven from both Greenland and the USA, according to KNR.

By comparison, Greenland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a total staff of 15, and the Danish MFA has 14 employees on its Arctic and North America desk.

The purpose of the consulate is to increase American presence in the Arctic and for it to be a platform from which to promote American interests in Greenland, according to a letter from the American MFA to Congress.
