Aaja Chemnitz Larsen New Chair of SCPAR

Greenlandic member of Folketinget Aaja Chemnitz Larsen has been elected new chair of the Standing Committee of Parliamentarians of the Arctic Region (SCPAR), according to Sermitsiaq. Chemnitz has been representing in the committee for the past six years.

The SCPAR was established in 1993 and has, in addition to members from the eight Arctic states, also representatives from the EU, the West Nordic Council and the Nordic Council.

The committee focuses on issues with particular influence on life in the Arctic, such as e.g. climate change, indigenous rights, infrastructure, digitalization, education and business development.
