63 Percent of Greenlanders Oppose Kuannersuit Mining
A new poll in Greenland shows that 63 percent of its population opposes the planned mining operation in Kuannersuit (Kvanefjeld), according to Sermitsiaq. The poll has asked specifically about this project as well as about mining in Greenland in general.
Only 26 percent of the population are in favor of the project, whereas 11 percent is undecided. As for mining in general, 52 percent of the population favors it while 29 percent opposes.
The poll and subsequent report have been conducted on behalf of Innovation South Greenland and will form the basis for its advising Kujalleq municipality.
