270 000 Signatures Against Icelandic Whaling

Whaling was protested against in the center of Icelands capitol Reykjavík Monday. The Icelandic singer Björk Guðmundsdóttir was one of those who led the protest. Around 270,000 signatures against whale hunting have been collected internationally.

This is reported by Icelandic broadcaster RUV.

The protest was intended, among other things, to draw attention to a petition calling on the government to ban whaling. A total of 270,000 signatures have been collected, of which around 20,000 are from Iceland.

The signatures are to be delivered to Svandísa Svavarsdóttir, Minister of Food and Katrína Jakobsdóttir, Prime Minister next week.
