New Finnmark County Council to Be Constituted October 10

On the 10th of October, the new county council for the new Finnmark County Council will be constituted.

"I see this as a major political event," says the leader of the county council, Kristina Torbergsen (Labor).

For four years, Finnmark County has been merged with Troms County.

The new county council must decide the matters dealt with in the constituent meeting, while the existing county council in Troms and Finnmark presents the matters to the county council. This is where both recommendations and specialist notes are included, writes Troms and Finnmark County Council in a press release.

One of the important areas that the newly elected Finnmark County Council must decide on is the form of political governance: the presidency model or the parliamentary model. In this case, in particular, the county council has not come up with guidelines in its recommendation.
