Kangerlussuaq Airport Agreement in Greenland

Denmark and Greenland’s self-rule authorities are set to sign an agreement this week about the Danish military’s continued use of Kangerlussuaq airport, according to Sermitsiaq.

No statements have been made regarding the potential extent of civilian use of the airport, however, the Danish defense minister har previously been positive to the idea.

Only when the initial agreement is signed will the parties work out a model for covering of expenses needed for renovation and future operation of the airport. The Kangerlussuaq airport is not part of the major airport initiative currently going on in Greenland.
