Denmark Will Increase Its Presence in the Arctic

According to Defense Minister Trine Bramsen, the Danish defense will increase its presence in the Arctic in the coming year, according to Sermitsiaq.

As the ice melts following climate changes, major changes take place in the Arctic and new threats are created.

- The defence’s presence in the Arctic will be strengthened in the coming years as a respond to this development in order to secure stability and security, the minister says. In January, the Danish defense received some DKK 1.5 million extra funding, allocated via the defense budget.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen recently stated during a visit to Greenland that she also expects increased American presence on Greenland.
