The number of passengers going through Keflavík Airport is expected to increase by 25 percent next year, reaching more than six million, RÚV reports. Twenty-five airlines will be offering flights to the country in 2016―more than ever before.

The number of tourists in Iceland is also expected to increase next year. At the same time, more airlines will be offering direct flights to Keflavík, and airlines already here will be flying to more destinations than before. Iceland Review writes that Icelandair and WOW Air recently have  announced plans for new destinations, but traffic will also increase with flights being offered for the first time by British Airways, Germania, Air Baltic, CSA and Iberia Express. Airlines new to Keflavík will add Bremen, Friedrichshafen, Prague and Riga to the list of direct flights offered.
