NATO and Partners in High North Exercise


The Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish Air Forces join forces to organize the third Arctic Challenge Exercise in 2017. More than 1,000 personnel and 100 aircrafts from 12 countries will participate.

Finland will take the lead in what is one of the largest military exercises in Europe this year, and the forces will be based in Bodø (Norway), Luleå (Sweden) and Rovaniemi (Finland).

According to a statement from the Norwegian Armed Forces, fighter planes, transport aircraft, tanker aircraft and AWACS will participate in ACE 2017, as will Search and Rescue Helicopter and Ground Based Air Defence. Furthermore, the Norwegian Navy will participate in operations in and around the Lofoten islands. 

The Arctic Challenge Exercise takes place from 22 May to 2 June 2017.
