Iceland Taken to Court over Product Information Rules

Iceland has failed to implement a directive on labeling and standard product information on energy consumption into its national legislation.

Iceland has failed to implement a directive on labeling and standard product information on energy consumption into its national legislation before the June 1, 2013 deadline, the EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) announced yesterday. Therefore, the matter will be brought before the EFTA Court.

The Labeling Directive 2010/30/EU establishes a framework for the harmonization of national measures on labeling and standard product information regarding energy consumption. Its objective is to improve consumers’ possibility to assess the energy efficiency of certain products, the ESA explains, according to Iceland Review.
