Jeg har sluttet å tro på forutsigbarhet, 2017 blir minst like spennende som året som gikk.

Norwegian daily Aftenposten reports that the new NH90 helicopters acquired by the Norwegian Ministry of Defence cannot be sufficiently secured onboard ships and are therefore not operational yet. As a result, both day-to-day operations and rescue services are at risk.

Two new Arctic emergency centers to open along Northern Sea Route

Russia announced plans to open two additional emergency rescue centers along the Northern Sea Route (NSR). The new centers will be located in Pevek and Anadyr in the Chukotka region and will provide additional search and rescue capabilities along the Arctic shipping route.

Knapt en av fem amerikanere er klar over at USA har innbyggere i Arktis. Under halvparten vet hvor Nordpolen ligger. En tredjedel mener at klimaendringene har naturlige årsaker, eller benekter endringene. Og blant velgerne som støttet Donald Trump har vitenskapen liten eller ingen innflytelse.
